This seems to be the easiest way to enable the cellular modem in Ubuntu.

I am running the HP un2400 modem, but with the latest 11.04 kernel, 2.6.38-11 (Natty Narwhal). Will your script also make the needed changes to the 2.6.38-11 kernel, or will changes be necessary?

I'm no longer using the HP computer, too small screen for me, so I've not upgraded the scripts at all. But the steps should be the same, but you'd have to get the latest versions of things. And I don't think you've to patch the kernel anymore. --ba
